Black Saturday Remembrance Day
by Frann LeachBlack Saturday Remembrance Day is commemorated in Australia on 7 February in memory of the many lives - over 200 - that were lost in the bushfires on that day, a number far higher than ever before. It is a solemn day, and a day on which Australians across the continent, and the world, redouble their commitment to their country and its people, and the spirit of mateship and self-reliance that makes Australia great.
