Easter Day

by

Easter Day is a day to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ in Christian churches, although there may not necessarily be special services, particularly if an Easter Vigil service was held. In fundamentalist and evangelical churches it is an occasion for much celebration.

The Easter Day service often reflects the story of the women coming to the tomb at dawn on the first day of the week to prepare the body of Jesus for burial (which could not be done before that because of strict religious laws about the Sabbath). Some churches call this service a "Sunrise Service", though it is likely to be held in broad daylight, rather than at dawn, possibly outdoors.
