Selkirk Grace

The Selkirk Grace, also known as Burns’ Grace at Kirkcudbright, is traditionally said before eating on Burns Night, 25th January.

The Selkirk Grace

Some hae meat and cannot eat.
Some cannot eat that want it:
But we hae meat and we can eat,
Sae let the Lord be thankit.

Robert ("Robbie") Burns, the Scottish National poet, was born in humble circumstances on the 25th January 1759, and died 21st July 1796.
