In the Western church calendar, Trinity Sunday is the first Sunday after Pentecost, but in the Orthodox church, Pentecost and Trinity Sunday fall on the same day. It is a celebration of the the three "persons" of God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Trinity Sunday is celebrated in all churches, but the dates may not correspond, depending on which calendar is used.
In the Roman Catholic Church the official name for Trinity Sunday is The Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity. Before the Second Vatican Council in the first half of the 1960s, weddings were not permitted during the 3-week period from Rogation Sunday until Trinity Sunday.
The Feast of Corpus Christi is celebrated on the Thursday following Trinity Sunday, except in Spain and the United States where it is celebrated on the following Sunday.
