Blackpool Illuminations
With some 3.5 million visitors, Blackpool Illuminations are one of the world’s greatest tourist attractions. However, although the Illuminations along the seafront promenade at Blackpool (a resort town in Northwest England) are one of Britain’s most visited tourist attractions, they get little real international publicity.
The lights are usually switched on on the Friday following the August Bank Holiday weekend. They usually run until the first Sunday in November. In 2007 they will be turned on on 31st August and it’s "lights out" on 4th November.
Please visit our sister site, Faraway Places, for more details about the Blackpool Illuminations.
Many of the events and celebrations discussed on Which Day can best be enjoyed by visiting the country where they started. To find out more about visiting the destination of your dreams, visit Faraway Places
